Taking measurements: how to prepare your enquiry

The more precise the details, the faster and more accurate the quote. This checklist helps you measure your room correctly and think of everything we need for fabrication.

Taking measurements: how to prepare your enquiry

Key points at a glance

  • Measure each wall at several points and state the smallest dimension.
  • Measuring both diagonals shows whether the room is square.
  • Note each connection's distance from the corner and height above the floor, and check the access route for delivery.
  • A sketch, photos and equipment data sheets make the quote quick and accurate.
Basics

Why site measurement matters so much

Made-to-measure stainless steel furniture is fabricated to the millimetre. Small measuring errors only show up during installation, when a table does not fit the recess or a drain disappears behind the base unit.

Your measurements and photos are enough for an initial quote. Before fabrication, we take measurements on site ourselves if needed.

Checklist

What you should measure and note down

ItemWhat exactly
Wall lengthsmeasure each wall separately, at floor level and at working height
Room heightup to the ceiling; for hoods, also to beams or pipes
Anglesmeasure both diagonals so we can see whether the room is square
Windows and doorsposition, width, sill height and opening direction
Connectionswater, drainage, electricity and gas: distance from the corner and height above the floor
Obstaclespillars, radiators, plinths, floor drains and surface-mounted pipes and cables
Access routenarrowest door, stairwell, lift: so the furniture actually fits in

Measure in millimetres and take every measurement twice. A laser distance meter is more accurate than a folding rule.

Documents

What makes your enquiry complete

Sketch

A simple hand-drawn sketch from above with all dimensions is enough. Mark where the furniture should go and where the connections are.

Photos

Photos of every wall, the connections and the floor. A folding rule in the picture helps us judge sizes.

Equipment

Model or data sheet of the appliances that will go on or in the furniture. That way base units and cut-outs fit exactly.

Common mistakes

Where many measurements go wrong

Wall measured at one point only
Plinth or tile edge forgotten
Access route not checked
Connections noted without height

Old walls are rarely straight. So measure at the bottom, in the middle and at the top. The smallest measurement is what counts.

FAQ

Questions about site measurement

Do I have to measure myself?

Your measurements and photos are very helpful for an initial quote. Before fabrication, we check the measurements on site ourselves if needed.

How precisely do I need to measure?

As precisely as possible, ideally to the millimetre. Measure each wall at several points and give the smallest measurement.

What if the room is not square?

That is common. Using both diagonals, we can calculate the angle and fabricate the furniture to fit, for example with an adapted worktop.

How do I send the documents?

Write to us via the contact form. You can then send the sketch and photos by email.
